Today, I'm out looking for furniture. It's one of my goals for 2008 to buy real furniture to replace the stuff I have that is a mish mash of opportunistic finds and cheap. The yard stick which I plan to use to judge new furniture is whether or not it would look nice in a photo shoot. For a bed, I'm looking for something like a nice wooden canopy platform bed. For dresser or night stand, I'm thinking about some old steamer trunks. The type that can be set on their side and used as a wardrobe. I also need some panel screens to hide the unfinished concrete of the walls of my basement bedroom. Why and I posting all this? Because, I'm thinking antiques might be the way to go. I'm looking for real stuff that will last for the rest of my life, and nice antiques could possibly be cheaper and better looking that some of the new stuff I'm looking at. Ikea might make due for bookshelves, but for bed and dresser I want some nice stuff, so I was wondering if anybody can recommend places to shop, especially antique stores that would carry such furniture in the Seattle area?
